PC Shocker!

  1. For decades Frankland’s selfless, dedicated news professionals have told us of a thick layer of putrefying pig guts just below the surface of Canadian public life. As the chronic horndogs are flushed out of their burrows one-by-one, am I the only one who thinks “Senator Michael Bate, O.C.” has a nice ring to it?

  2. Brown is likely guilty, but let’s go to a fantasy world for a minute. Who will benefit from him disappearing? The Libs, the NDP and probably the PCs, especially someone who might have wanted the leadership (shades of Muldoon and Joe Clark). Let’s pretend that he’s innocent. Perhaps someone paid off the women to say that he was messin’ where he shoudn’ta been a-messin’. It’s a perfect time in history to destroy a man’s career this way and if I was writing a script for House of Cards, this is the sort of scenario I would put in. What would be even funnier/more tragic is if Brown is a closeted gay. Then he would have had to come out of the closet and say that he would never have touched a woman. Hopefully if this is a political character assassination, he will eventually be able to clear himself, but he’s probably guilty.

….”Caroline Mulroney, one of the party’s star candidates who is running in York-Simcoe, posted that “we are living in a powerful moment where women and girls across Ontario, across Canada and around the world are ending their silence …”
      She added…. [ Blaah, blaah, blaah. ]

  3. Yes, the British House of Cards series (1990, UK). Andrew Davies and Michael Dobbs had killed off Francis Urquart in the first set, but revived him to do “To Play the King” (1993), and “The Final Cut” (1995).
The novelizations by Dobbs make more of the homosexual themes of blackmail, Howard Earle the British Education secretary as the Wikipedia article “House of Cards (UK TV series)” has noted. ( See “Deviations from the novel in the series” )

The US version of House of Cards inspired Dobbs to re-write the novels in 2013 to be more in line with the UK TV series. So be careful which version you pick up at the Ottawa Public Library.

“You might very well think that; I couldn’t possibly comment”.

  4. I like the plot where he admits to it because there is an uglier secret just
below – like he cruises Nickleback concerts or something…
