Is that some sort of crack about his brother?
Still, if the premier ever needed proof of why rightsizing council — from 47 members to 25 — all he had to was tune into their sophomoric, puerile, petulant and at times, downright moronic and phoney musings about fighting for taxpayers Thursday…. Not that Ford needs proof of the dysfunction (having lived it himself)….

Why do Newfies wear pants?
As the true poet-laureate of this country, the late and genuinely lamented Leonard Cohen so insightfully observed, “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” Knowing that at present female representation in the energy industry is at an abysmal 24 per cent, there was a nugget of comfort in the news of the 8,000 jobs lost to the Trans Mountain court decision. At least most of the laid off, 76 per cent in all, were men!

Or perhaps integrating a little too well
During his mad dash to bring in refugees from the most violent corner of the world…Trudeau haphazardly exposed Canada to the dangers of unchecked immigration from a war zone. It’s no wonder we’ve heard numerous reports of Syrian refugees failing to adapt to life in Canada…. Worse, reports of Syrian refugees committing violent crimes are becoming more common. Last year, I wrote about a Syrian man who beat his wife with a hockey stick for half an hour, sending her to hospital…. Is it any surprise that a group of people unfamiliar with our laws, raised in a society that views women as objects and who were not subject to our regular immigration and security screenings are failing to integrate?

As not seen on or near TV
[W]hen I’m in Alberta, I see Fox News playing on airport TV screens and it’s not pleasant. (I bought this clever device online that surreptitiously turns off airport TVs but what if I got caught?)

In his writings on totalitarianism, George Orwell powerfully exposed the link between the manipulation of language and the erosion of individual liberty. Ideologues understand that linguistic control precedes, and is crucial to, political and cultural power. The novel 1984 illuminated the shame in being compelled— figuratively—to endorse the lie that two plus two is five.

On the positive side, you now have a powerful ally in Donald Trump
Though science is expanding expert knowledge around biological sex, trans people are still pummelled with arguments that reduce our very personhood to the shape of our genitals.
