Much egg on faces at the Toronto Star this week as Public Editor/Ombudsthingy Kathy English produced her patronizing, annual quiz column: “Are You Smarter Than a Star Journalist?”
Turns out most of us are. Out of 20 questions and answers, the Star has had to publish two corrections. So far:
The capital of New Brunswick is not Saint John, it’s Fredericton.
Bernie Williams, not Ted Williams, was baseball’s all-time post-season home run leader until 2007.
One presumes English will use her boners as a classroom illustration of how triple checking is preferable to double checking.
All these (non-Welsh) Williams look alike. 😉
Pity the laid-off Toronto Star journo who took a job as a Zamboni driver in St. John, thinking they’d be living in a provincial capital.
