When Byron Muldoon pegged out in February 2024, he departed this mortal coil secure in the knowledge that his name would live on in Canadian politics—daughter Caroline as a senior cabinet minister in Doug Ford’s government, and son Mark, a rising conservative star/heir apparent, biding his time for Pierre Poilievre’s inevitable face plant.
Alas, Mark buggered up that scenario last month by taking a lucrative gig as the CIBC’s Global Vice-Chair.
Clearly, here at Frank FanDuel, we had our chips on the wrong Mulroney. We overlooked the dimmest bulb of Byron’s brood, former televisual personality and celebrated star fucker, Ben Muldoon.
He may have a law degree, but Ben was never anyone’s idea of a political thought leader. But then he got his own talk show on Global TV (Corus Entertainment) in October ‘23 and went all Joe Maple MAGA Rogan.
During the federal election campaign, Mulroney plumped for Pee Wee (despite the fact his father loathed Poilievre).

Even as he claims to have no political ambitions, Mulroney has been not-so-subtly putting a campaign together.
On Labour Day he raised his visibility in Quebec when he became a daily contributor to Benoit Dutrizac’s top rated talk show on QUB radio.
Frank has also learned that Mulroney will take over hosting duties of The West Block, Global’s flagship national political affairs show. He replaces Mercedes Stephenson, who’s on mat leave.
On West Block, Mulroney will have to demonstrate he’s more than a talking chin. Savvy viewers won’t watch if he’s just feeding outrage junkies their daily dose.
Like his recent faux outrage that Mark Carney should never have been allowed to be PM without first getting elected.
“I cannot think of a government in modern times led by a Prime Minister who did not hold a seat in the House of Commons. I know that some are trying to normalize this, but it is not normal.”
Note to Ben: Despite never having run for elected office, yer dear ol’ dad still entered the leadership contest to replace Robert Stanfield. Had the Conservatives been the governing party, he would have become PM.
Footnote: Speaking of education, the four Mulroney children’s university tuitions were paid from the cash that Byron received from Karlheinz Schreiber.

The dumbest son of a former PM for PM?
That could never happen!
